Differences CRD-1006 (v1) vs CRD-1006 (v2)

by OPTICON shop

Important differences between the CRD-1006 v1 and the CRD-1006 v2.

CRD-1006 v1 are all serial numbers until (and included) : 16900
CRD-1006 v2 are all serial number starting from : 16901
The serial number can be found on the label at the bottom of the cradle (normally denoted as ' SN:'  followed by 6 digits)

The CRD-1006 v1 has a DIP-switch in the bottom located behind a small cover. This DIP-switch needs to be set to obtain the desired communication settings for your application.
For the  CRD-1006 v1 to function properly the driver needs to be installed always (all Windows versions).

The CRD-1006 v2 has a software menu for the communication settings. A description on how to access and set these can be found here.
For the driver on Windows 10 and up you have two choices:
A) either use the Windows generic USB driver (default installed with Windows)
B) install the Opticon CRD-1006 driver (USB Drivers Installer by Opticon)

The difference when using the default Windows driver or Opticon driver is the name of the cradle that shows up within Windows and other applications like AppLoad and OseComm.
With the Windows driver the cradle will be named ' Serial USB device (COMxx)' with xx being the Virtual Com Port number. When the Opticon driver is installed the cradle will be named ' Opticon USB Serial Port (COMxx)' with xx being the Virtual Com Port number.
