With the Opticon OPN-2001 being out of production the availability pool shrinks daily. There is a possible workaround with the help of an OPN-2006: the OPN-2006 can be made to mimic the exact behaviour of an OPN-2001. Your system that retrieves the scanned data from the scanner won't even know that there's an OPN-2006 at the end of the line. Here's how to achieve that:
The way this works is that we need to upload a specific firmware version to the OPN-2006 that fully mimics OPN-2001's behaviour. This firmware is called 'OPN Companion Application'.
1) Download and install AppLoad
2) Download the OPN-2006 firmware package (ZIP)
3) Uppack the firmware ZIP file
4) Upload the 'OPN-2001 Simulation Application' to your OPN-2006
In this case we assume that the OPN-200x drivers are already present on your system, since you already communicate with OPN-2001's. If this is not the case then please follow this guide.
1) Download and install AppLoad
Download the 'AppLoad' from Opticon here: https://www.opticon.com/support/Appload/Appload Setup.exe
Run 'Appload Setup.exe' and follow the installation instructions. The default suggested settings are fine. Only tweak the setup options if you are familiar with installing Windows applications.
2) Download the OPN-2006 firmware package (ZIP)
Download the 'OPN-2006.zip' package from Opticon here: https://www.opticon.com/support/LEGACY/OPN-2006/OPN-2006.zip
3) Unpack the firmware ZIP file
Now unpack your downloaded ZIP-file to an easy to find location, like your Desktop.
The ZIP-file contains:
So in this case the firmware and application are combined into one file, so by uploading this file to your OPN the firmware as well as the application are updated.
4) Upload the 'OPN-2001 Simulation Application' to your OPN-2006
