By buying any terminal you buy a piece of modern and cleverly designed hardware with integrated 1D or 2D scanner, with a pre-installed 'Operating System' (OS). The OS can be Android or a Proprietary system (closed software).
But there is no generic 'one-fits-all' application that will work for everybody and this is the reason why there are no ready pre-installed user applications on these devices.

So be aware that none of the Mobile terminals have by default 'production ready' software that will seamlessly operate in the workflow of your operational environment. So what are your choices?

SPECIFIC READY MADE APPLICATION SOFTWARE
An application that is specifically tailored to each step in your scanning process must be already available to you and compiled for the specific terminal model you want to select. It could be that your software vendor of your CRM/ERP, web shop or any other business software you use within your company advises you to buy a specific terminal model because they already have developed an application for this model. In general this software will work only on this exact model and does not automatically mean it will also work it's predecessors or successors. In some cases the software (source) can be recompiled by your software with some rework to operate on a successor model.

IF NO READY MADE SOFTWARE IS AVAILABLE TO YOU
There are however, depending on the terminal model, demo applications available that in some cases will be sufficient to get the scanning job done. Make sure you check the availability and functionality for the specific model meets your specific requirements before buying!

Be aware that in most demo applications you have no control to alter the name of the labels, the fields that are shown on the screen. Also you have no control over the structure of the generated scanned data output file. This means you need to be able to adapt your current system to the export/data-format of what the demo program offers.

WHAT IF THE DEMO SOFTWARE DOESN'T FIT MY NEEDS
In case the available demo isn't sufficient to supply the minimum requirements for your scanning application a tailored application should be developed for the terminal of your choice.
To achieve this you have the following options:
1) download the terminal's SDK and write the application yourself (you would need to be experienced in the programming language of the specific terminal);
2) ask your software supplier (or another programmer that is skilled in the terminal's  language) to write a program for you/your company;
3) Ask us to develop the program for you/your company (more info here).
